Five meals are for sale online and in 35 brick and mortar stores

The Durango-based company that makes dehydrated backpacking meals recently landed a contract with REI.

Five of its meals – its green chile mac and cheese, thai red curry, three bean chili and cornbread, green chile cheddar grits and thai carrot slaw – are now available to buy at 35 REI locations across America or online.

“We’re stoked about it. It’s a huge step for us,” said Louis Barton , co-founder of Farm to Summit.

Barton said they had applied to get into REI “a long time ago,” back when it had a local buy-in program. They submitted a video, application and “hoped for the best.”

REI has since gotten rid of that program, but a corporate person saw their meals at Sprouts “and brought us in,” said Barton.

Farm to Summit calls themselves “a dehydrated food company on a mission,” and Barden said they’re really excited to keep on supporting local farmers, and that this new partnership allows them to support them even more.

“This is a dream come true for our little business,” an email announcing the news said.
