It may feel like summer is a long way off, but it will be here before you know it. A sign that we’re headed in the right direction is that the 48th Telluride Jazz Festival on Tuesday announced its artist lineup for this year’s festival, which will be held Aug. 8 to 10 at Telluride Town Park.

Performers will include Kamasi Washington, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Cimafunk, BTTRFLY Quintet, BALTHVS, Kokoroko Parlor Greens and more.

“Every year, a dynamic mix of inspiring artists full of talent make their way to the Telluride Jazz Festival and this year is no different,” Steve Gumble, festival director, said in a news release Tuesday. “There’s no bigger name in contemporary jazz than Kamasi Washington. Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue is the modern-day torchbearer of New Orleans music and Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe are funk luminaries. Between these legends and many other exciting bands, it’s guaranteed to be a special weekend here in our mountain town.”
