The open house will allow for community members to provide input

The city of Cortez will be hosting another open house to receive further feedback and input from community members on the land use code update.

The open house is at the Chamber of Commerce, 20 W. Main St., on Tuesday from noon to 3 p.m.

The open house discussion will primarily cover Chapters 2 and 6 of the proposed updates. While Chapter 2 discusses definitions of the code, Chapter 6 is on application procedures.

The open house also will also touch on an overview of the proposed changes for the entirety of the code.

A joint work session will also be hosted with the City Council and Planning and Zoning Commission on Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall, 123 Roger Smith Ave.

Draft chapters will be discussed at this meeting. The city added that there will be no action or public comment taken at this meeting.

There will be, however, a “drop-in” open house on Dec. 17 where community members can share feedback on the draft chapters.

For those who wish to attend the work session but cannot in person, there will be a livestream on the city’s YouTube channel at www.cortezco.gov/497/City-Council-Live-Stream.

A draft of the entire proposed Land Use Code will also be available online for public comment following the beginning of 2025, according to the city.
