A fundraiser for Detective Tomas Parker of the Montezuma County Sheriff’s Office will be held Saturday as he battles “very serious health issues” in Denver.
A chili dinner and silent auction will be held at the Lewis Arriola Community Center, 21176 Road S beginning at 4 p.m.
“Tomas and Alexis Parker need our help,” organizers said. “We are hoping to repay a bit of the service they have both given to this community. … They still have a significant fight ahead of them.”
According to information provided to The Journal, Parker was hospitalized the first week of September for “very serious medical issues” and was flown to Grand Junction soon after. Since his initial life flight, he has been moved to a hospital in Denver, where he is “still fighting for his life.”
His wife, Alexis, is a Montezuma-Cortez dispatcher. She and their young son are in Denver with him.
Tickets for the chili dinner and silent auction are $10 for adults and $5 for children ager 12 and under. Everyone is invited.
To donate a silent auction item, food or dessert, contact organizers at tomasparkerfundraising@gmail.com.
The family also accepts donations through Alexis Parker’s Venmo account, Alexis-Avila-14.
