Wednesday, Sept. 25

10:26 a.m. Officers arrested a man on a warrant at the Tomahawk Hotel, 728 S. Broadway.

10:40 a.m. An officer arrested a woman on two warrants at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

12:36 p.m. An officer responded to a report of a man who was given a no-trespass order at Walgreens, 1671 E. Main St. The officer notified the employees that the man indeed was not trespassed, then the officer served the man a warrant and placed him into custody.

2:14 p.m. An officer served never-expiring trespass notices to four men after he located them near the United Methodist Church, 515 N. Park St. During the interaction with the men, the officer arrested one man out of the group on a warrant. The reporting party then contacted the Cortez dispatch regarding another man he had a protection order against who was also recently on his property in the 100 block of Fillmore Street. Officers located the restrained man in Centennial Park and arrested him on suspicion of violating a protection order that states he must stay at least 50 yards away from the reporting party.

3:32 p.m. An officer arrested a man on two warrants and cited the man with obstructing a peace officer and possession of drug paraphernalia at 616 S. Beech St.

8:07 p.m. An officer arrested a man on a warrant at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St.

8:53 p.m. An officer cited a man with third-degree trespass at City Market, 508 E. Main St.

10:42 p.m. An officer cited a man with shoplifting and served him a trespass notice at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St. The officers report states that the man stated he should be allowed to steal because he had no running water in his home.

Thursday, Sept. 26

5:15 p.m. An officer arrested a man on suspicion of DUI, no proof of insurance and careless driving at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St. The man was reportedly “passed out drooling on himself at the Maverick sitting at a gas pump” by a witness who reported a possible drunken driver shortly after law enforcement was notified of an vehicle matching his description colliding with a concrete pillar at the Speedway at 2320 E. Main St., a witness advised seeing the man driving off into the Walmart parking lot.

6:10 p.m. An officer cited a man with indecent exposure at the Duck Pond, 515 N. Mildred Road. Witnesses stated the man had urinated on a tree in the park and then turned his body around exposing his genitalia to people at the playground.

9:51 p.m. An officer arrested a man on two warrants at 806 S. Oak St.

10:36 p.m. An officer cited a man with second-degree burglary and theft at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St.

Friday, Sept. 27

6:01 a.m. An officer took a report for a protection order violation at 1498 Acoma St. The officers report states a woman showed him surveillance footage of a man who is restrained from her attempting to break-in to her residence.

8:18 a.m. An officer served a warrant to a man at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

6:10 p.m. An officer arrested a man on suspicion of violating a protection order that states he shall not possess or consume alcoholic beverages and resisting arrest at 414 N. Beech St.

11:54 p.m. An officer took a report from a man of a bike he lent to an acquaintance that had not been returned to him in the 1600 block of E. First St.

Saturday, Sept. 28

1:45 a.m. An officer arrested a man on a warrant at Chevron Gas Station, 717 S. Broadway.

2:08 a.m. An officer returned to the intersection of Linden Street and Montezuma Avenue to investigate the scene where he saw a man discharging a fire extinguisher when responding to an unrelated call earlier in his shift. The officers report states the extinguisher had Conoco written on it and when he arrived at the Conoco gas station he discovered the case from which the man took the extinguisher and there was a water faucet shooting water out on full blast. The officer’s report states that a day shift officer located the man he witnessed using the fire extinguisher and cited him with trespassing and theft.

3:39 a.m. An officer arrested a woman on suspicion of disturbing the peace at Romans Apartments, 307 W. Montezuma Ave. The woman had been reported by multiple neighbors as knocking at their doors, yelling at them and trying to get into their apartments.

5:08 p.m. An officer arrested a man on two warrants at City Market, 508 E. Main St.

10:28 p.m. An officer arrested a man on a warrant and suspicion of DUI, failed to present proof of insurance, drove motor vehicle on the wrong side of divided highway, and open alcohol beverage container in a motor vehicle at the Seventh Street Bridge, 1580 E. Seventh St.

11:37 p.m. An officer arrested a woman on a warrant and cited her with criminal impersonation after lying to the officer about her name and date of birth at the Handymart, 806 S. Broadway.

Sunday, Sept. 29

3:33 a.m. An officer cited a woman with trespassing and destroying private property in the 200 block of W. Second St.

3:37 a.m. An officer arrested a woman on suspicion of DUI, drove vehicle with blood alcohol level of 0.08 or more and careless driving at the corner of Jackson Street and Cornett Street.

9:08 a.m. An officer arrested a man on suspicion of second-degree arson at the Dollar Tree, 215 S. Sligo St. The man lit two dumpsters, a fence and a set of mattresses on fire, the officer reported the man had black soot on his hands when he found him hiding between two sagebrush bushes in a field.

8:44 p.m. An officer arrested a man on suspicion of violating a protection order that states he shall not possess or consume alcohol at the Happy Valley Trailer Park, 203 E. Seventh St.

Monday, Sept. 30

11:20 a.m. An officer arrested a man in the remand of the Municipal Court, 125 N. Roger Smith Ave.

11:57 a.m. An officer arrested a man on a warrant at Veterans Park, 830 E. Main St.

1:07 p.m. An officer arrested a man on a warrant at the corner of West Fifth Street and South Market Street.

7:31 p.m. An officer cited a man with second-degree burglary of a retail store at Safeway, 1580 E. Main St.

11:09 p.m. An officer arrested a woman on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs or both and drove vehicle with blood alcohol content of 0.08 or more at the corner East Montezuma Avenue and North Park Street.

Tuesday, Oct. 1

3:56 a.m. An officer arrested a man on a warrant at 1518 Aldridge Road.

2:39 p.m. An officer cited a woman with shoplifting and issued her a never-expiring trespass notice at City Market, 508 E. Main St.

3:03 p.m. An officer cited a man with trespassing at the Church of Christ, 631 E. Montezuma Ave.

3:16 p.m. An officer arrested a woman on a warrant at 44 W. Main St.

7:28 p.m. An officer arrested a man on a warrant who was reportedly walking around checking doors on vehicles in the area of the High View Smoke Shop, 43 E. Main St.

Wednesday, Oct. 2

10:16 p.m. An officer arrested a man on suspicion of violating an alcohol protection order, resisting arrest and second-degree trespass at the Happy Valley Trailer Park, 203 E. Seventh St.

9:48 p.m. An officer arrested a man on suspicion of violating an alcohol protection order at Veterans Park, 830 E. Main St.
