The Montezuma County Landfill’s baler has been repaired, and residential recycling pickup resumed Aug. 22, several months after the machine started malfunctioning.
To let the city to play catch-up, drop-off recycling at the service center remains closed.
Clean, lidless glass jars and bottles and “office paper mix” – things like magazines, mail and office paper (not newspaper) – are recyclable in residential bins only.
They also take a mix of cardboard, aluminum cans, tin/steel/ferrous metals and Types 1 and 2 plastic. For a more detailed description of accepted items, refer to the recycling page on the city of Cortez’s website.
