Mesa Verde hosts National Park Service band

National Park Service Centennial Band to Perform at Mesa Verde National Park

Mesa Verde National Park will host the National Park Service Centennial Band at 6 p.m. September 18 at Morefield Amphitheater.

The amphitheater is in Morefield Campground, four miles into the park. Park admission will be free beginning at 4:30 p.m. on September 18, and admission to the concert will also be free.

The NPS Centennial Band features Park Rangers Matt Hampsey, Jon Beebe, and Bud Holmes from New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park along with New Orleans musicians.

The music the band performs includes traditional New Orleans jazz and rhythm and blues and selections from the Great American Songbook. The band also performs original compositions by Park Ranger Jeff Wolin, which highlight National Park Service sites, nature, culture, and history.

“We invite everyone to come out and listen to a very talented group of NPS employees,” Mesa Verde Superintendent Cliff Spencer said in a press release. “It promises to be a great time.”
