Fellowship Baptist Church in Cahone will host their Annual Ladies Day for the tenth year on Aug. 3 at 10 a.m. The event will be held at the Dove Creek Community Center at 403 Seventh St.
This year, the theme is “Rockin’ With Jesus,” inspired by the 1950s. A costume contest will be held, and lunch will be served. The gathering will also feature a guest speaker and special music.
Tonya Yates, who attends Lighthouse Baptist Church, will be this year’s guest speaker. She serves as a Grief Share leader, according to a release from the Women’s Bible Study group.
Traci Duran, Diane Shutt, Katie Gray and Abbie Lillibo, all from Lighthouse Baptist Church, will bring special music to the event. Duran is a Grief Share counselor here and in Arizona. Shutt and her husband own a video repair business and serve as the “sound people” for their church. Gray and Lillibo are teachers at Lighthouse Academy, and Lillibo is in Alaska for a mission trip.
The Women’s Bible Study group is multidenominational and has been together since 2005, hosting Friday night bible studies. It started when a group of friends came together to pray for a granddaughter with cancer, and has since grown.
“The largest group was approximately 25 to 30 ladies, coming from as far as Towaoc and as close as across the road,” the release said. “The Purpose Driven Women, the group name, is still 15 faithful strong, still multidenominational.”
First Southern Baptist Church and the Assembly of God Church have both given time and money to the gathering each year. The group welcomes those interested to attend.
