The Southwest Colorado Cycling Association and Rico Trails Alliance will host a weekend camping trip and work session beginning July 12 to recondition the Salt and Ryman trail systems.

It starts Friday, July 12 at 5 p.m. and continues through Sunday, July 14.

“We do this each year because we support each organization’s trail body or trail work group to get together and help support in building and maintaining our local trails in the area,” said Erin Kuhlman, vice president of SWCCA. It is the third year of the event.

The weekend will kick off at 5 p.m. Friday with a happy hour at Rico Garden Bar on Main Street. Volunteers then will head to their camp, at the turnoff of the Salt and Ryman trail systems.

On Saturday, volunteers will work on the Salt and Ryman trails. That night, the group will enjoy barbecue and beer, she said.

On Sunday, participants will do a group ride on the trails, with shuttle options available for others.

Kuhlman said anyone can volunteer.

“The more the merrier, because there’s a lot of miles of trails out there,” she said.
