Archuleta County coroner identifies woman shot, killed near Pagosa Springs

Colorado Bureau of Investigation says victim was shot multiple times

A 39-year-old woman who was shot and killed earlier this week outside her home near Pagosa Springs has been identified as Chrystal Snow.

Archuleta County Coroner Brad Hunt confirmed Snow’s identity on Wednesday.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation, which is overseeing the investigation, said in a news release that an autopsy was conducted Wednesday morning and revealed Snow suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

Neither the CBI nor the county coroner would provide more details about the shooting death, including location of the gunshot wounds.

CBI called it a “targeted shooting,” adding that agents have identified “Persons of Interest,” but no arrests had been made as of Wednesday afternoon.

“Investigators do not believe there is any active threat to the public,” the release said.

Authorities learned of the shooting shortly after 2:20 a.m. Tuesday when the victim called 911 from her home in the 1000 block of County Road 700 west of Pagosa Springs. Deputies arrived to find Snow dead in front of her home with multiple gunshot wounds.

Investigators believe Snow called 911 just before she succumbed to her injuries based on the nature of the open line dispatchers heard when answering the phone.

CBI declined to provide further details about the so-called persons of interest.
