Courtesy patrols

AAA Rocky Mountain Motorists have deployed a courtesy patrol service, but it faces criticism.

The club fought many years for the creation of the courtesy patrol but grave doubt has been expressed by citizens in some parts of the state as to the morale and efficiency of the patrol. The club has been asked if the patrolmen are covering their assigned territories, giving full time to their duties and reporting regularly. The club said that there is no reason with time and experience why our own courtesy patrol cannot be one of which we may be proud. The AAA club officials believe they can help stop cattle rustling, as highways are used to steal the cattle.

Star gets new press

The work of tearing out the old Campbell press, which has served the Star for the past eight years was complete. The Lee two revolution press was installed by Karl Popp a mechanic from the Denver branch of the American Type Founders Sales Corporation. The press is a great improvement over the old one, though not a new press and not the biggest or finest. It will certainly enable the Star force to do a better job of getting out a newspaper and makes it possible to handle a class of job printing which was next to impossible before. Mr. Popp is a splendid young chap and promised to return next summer and go fishing with the editor.
