A Durango restaurant has been closed for a week after sewer pipe was damaged, but aims to be back open in time for this weekend.
Rupert’s announced on April 11 via its Facebook page that it closed to repair the sewer pipe, but did not provide further details on how it was damaged. The restaurant, which is located at 810 East College Drive, is slated to reopen on Friday, according to the restaurant’s Facebook page.
The Durango Herald reached out to Rupert’s owner Tim Nevadomski for additional information, but could not get through to a voicemail box.
Around 1:20 p.m. Thursday two chairs were blocking the front entrance, which had a “closed” sign on it. No one appeared to be inside the building.
A man named Justin Matherson created a GoFundMe page on Thursday to help the restaurant get back on its feet.
As a result of the burst sewer pipe, Rupert’s needed to repair its water line and grease trap, according to the GoFundMe page.
The GoFundMe page is raising $25,000 for the restaurant. As of 2:10 p.m. Thursday, $1,525 has been donated.
